Initially released in 1966 and discontinued in 1972, the Fender Coronado marks an interesting time in Fenders product line - as well as music as a whole. The Coronado marked a further attempt at the Jazz market as well as the flourishing Beatles influenced sales seen by Gretsch & Epiphone. With Fenders signature bolt-on neck, many prestigious players viewed them as a lower end offering - which was something that became intriguing, similar to the Jazzmaster, by indie players. "Fidelitron" pickups have the classic chime and mid range rasp that these guitars are well regarded for. Setup with flats, these become impressive punchy jazz boxes, and with rounds will impress many rockers.
Standard 25.5" scale and a pretty standard C profile neck with the B stamped nut width. Immediately feels familiar to the Fender family - with a nicely bound rosewood fingerboard with block MOP inlay. This example, comes to us in excellent condition, with only expected surface level wear present, with no structural issues. A good straight neck, with clean frets and low action, the bridge is nicely raised from the tailpiece with plenty of room. The action measures 4-5/64" in height at the twelfth fret.
