The Martin 000 size is one of the most comfortable in the flat top market - and coupling it with the specifications of the "21" spruce rosewood combination is hard to beat. This example dating to 1948 is a true finger picking dream with nice note clarity and definition, perfect for recording - sure to impress any serious player or collector.

This example dates accurately to early 1948, serial stamped 103742. It is constructed with a sitka spruce top and light Brazilian rosewood back and sides. Cosmetically, the top shows pickwear showing one sealed crack near the bass side waist. Expected nicks and dings present. The bridge has been replaced at some point in its past with an ebony option. The pickguard has began lifting near the bridge.
Internally it retains the original bridge plate. There is a dowel in the neck block - likely a repaired crack, but nothing that is visible. A transitional period, this example has a rear shifted, tapered but non-scalloped bracing.
The back shows 4 cracks - all of which have been sealed. Mostly parallel to the center seam, the back lower bout bass side (near elbow) has well done repairs on an extensive crack that may have been from impact. The back shows a longer crack towards its bass side waist.

Thicker 40's neck with soft V profile. Neck is straight, the action measuring an even medium 8/64" in height at the twelfth fret - the saddle measuring about 6/64" in height over the slot on the bass side and about 4/64" on the treble side. Evidence of a past neck reset, and finish touch up on the heel - the back likely having been oversprayed after the repair was done to the internal heel. It has a standard 24.9" scale length and 1 11/16" nut width.
