Fit for the King...
Gibson released the Dove in 1962 following the success of the Hummingbird. The Dove, another square shouldered dreadanught - would compete with the Martin line of dreads - featuring a unique maple back & sides - providing a bit more brightness and forward top end. With iconic sound and looks, these would become player and collector favorites. This Elvis signature model is based off the customized example Elvis was given in 1969 - one that would be used throughout the 1970's.
Constructed with the fundamentals, it has a solid spruce top with fully multi ply bound maple back & sides - all finished in the forever cool black lacquer - with a matching all black batwing style pickguard. Rosewood Dove bridge complete with MOP wing inlay. Internally, it features hand carved scalloped X bracing, and hosts a nice LR Baggs VTC undersaddle pickup and preamp - with easily accessible controls inside the soundhole.
The neck is designed with a standard 25.5" scale length, and 1 23/32" nut width. The neck is made of mahogany (with matching ebony finish), with a fully bound rosewood fingerboard with split parallelogram inlay. Elvis truss rod cover, and gold Grover tuners round out this fine guitar.
This example comes to us in like new condition from the original owner with hardly a mark on it - notably one small finish nick preesnt near at the tops bass side lowerbout (hardly visible). The neck is nice and straight with a functioning untouched truss rod, the action measuring a standard 6/64" in height at the twelfth fret of the sixth string (5/64" on the first), with the saddle untouched standing tall above the slot.
Includes original brown Gibson hard case.
