The comfortable 00 size, combined with the style 17 Mahogany make the 00-17 a quite favorable guitar amongst many players. We are excited to have this very cool player forward 1950 example. A warm and dynamic tone, it has good projection and clarity for a mahogany guitar, that would make for a great recording instrument - stage ready, with a Fishman active pickup already installed. This particular example comes to us having been player maintained over the course of its 75 years, having it's top repaired, overspray, neck reset, and pickup install. It plays great now, with a nice even low action and great sound. The 00 body size is nice and comfy, measuring 14.25" across at the lower bout with a depth of 4" at the base. As mentioned, the top was repaired, with well done elliptical holes having been plugged with well matched mahogany, visible at the treble side lower bout. A few cracks have been repaired as well near the holes, as well as along its sides - all now in stable condition. The guitar has a bit of sheen to it, having been oversprayed in its past, something that likely has helped the guitar hold up as well as it has. It has a few nicks and dings around its edges, but nothing too troubling especially for its age. The top is nicely flat without any evidence of sinking or belly. A long crack has been repaired on its back with a parallel spine type brace, as well as a cleat. The neck has a nicely naturaled gloss to it's profile, again resulting from its overspray. The profile itself is very clean overall. The profile is typical for the era with a bit of a slim C light taper feel, measuring __" thick at the first position and __ at the 12th. It has a 1.75" nut width, making it really nice for finger style playing or more intricate chord work. It appears to have been refretted during its life (which only really makes sense given the other work its had), but these frets do show light, but non-problematic wear. The neck has been reset in its past, which now results in great action and a nice saddle - the action measuring a low 4/64" in height at the twelfth fret - with only a bit of buzz on the bass strings. A replaced bone nut and replaced Gotoh open gear tuners round out this one. Includes a nice newer hardshell case.
