A very unique banjo from Chicago builder J.B Schall, featuring unusual inlay work on the neck and peghead. The double spun rim assembly measures 11" in diameter, with all original hardware including round shoes, with Gerke tailpiece; rare maker plaque present on dowel. The 26" scale maple neck has an ebony fingerboard that is mostly inlaid with vertical alternating pieces of pearl and abalone, also with pearl dots; the neck has some light forward relief, repaired crack on overlay, some cosmetic wear on back, with flattening of frets present below first string in first position, and on the entire last fret (somehow the banjo does intonate in these areas).
