The Guild flat top acoustics have been some of the most revered in the vintage market, with a growing popularity, typically due to their "bang for the buck" nature. The D-25, while being a guitar that had changed a few times during Guilds operations, is a very nice dreadnaught with all the standard nuts & bolts to impress discerning players. This D-25M model dates accurately to 1974, which puts it early in a transitional period for the instrument that previously had been all mahogany. This example features a solid, but stained Spruce top with multi ply binding. The back and sides, are very interesting, made of laminate mahogany that is not braced, but arched. This arched back design typically would provide a bit more power and control in the bass response, albeit here with just a sweet and fairly balanced tone overall. Internally, it has a standard X scalloped bracing pattern with a very large bridge plate that appears to be made of ebony (an interesting choice). The lower bout measures 15.75" across, with a depth of 5" at the butt end and about 4" at the heel. The neck is designed with a 25.5" scale length. The neck is nice and straight and the frets very clean. The string action currently measuring 6/64" in height, the saddle appears to not have been taken down. Original Grover tuners present and functional. Cosmetically this is a fairly clean example with only mild surface level scratches and non problematic nicks present (namely on its back). Includes original hardshell case.
