Godin's Glissentar came about in the in the mid 2000's - offering up an instrument that had never been seen before. At its core, a guitarist can easily transition to this instrument, sharing familiar tuning and fingerings - but the Glissentar sports 11 strings, all but the lowest string double coursed, with a fretless ebony fingerboard. Sonically, it offers a unique Eastern inspired sound in a classical hybrid electric format.
The body is constructed with a chambered silver lead maple body with a solid cedar top. Comfortable, it sits much like a thin electric guitar. Familiar mostly double coursed bridge, it is outfitted with an LR Baggs Ribbon transducer and custom pre amp. A standard output jack, this can plug into any typical amplifier system, and features a fairly straight forward slider system with a master volume & basic 3-Band EQ.
The neck is designed with a familiar 25.5" scale length, with a crossover 1 7/8" nut width. A thin C profile, it feels comfortable for those accustomed to classical or steel string guitars. This is strung with nylon strings - tied at the bridge pin, with their classical inspired tuners at the peg head. It plays easily with low action - the neck bolted on for easy future adjustments if ever necessary.
Cosmetically, this instrument comes to us in like new condition with the original hang tags and plastic still on the back plate. It is cosmetically very clean with virtually no sign of use.
Includes original gig bag.
