Built in the heart of Bavaria, Framus instruments are uniquely built - with designs often reminiscent of Gibson & Fender. Their line of Star-Basses are a bit more unique in their presence, with this 5/151 model being maybe the most interesting of the bunch. A hollowbody, offset look is a bit Starcaster-esque, with pickup selector switches at the horn, and controls for volume and tone. This example is outfitted with an aftermarket double rail neck pickup - which sounds huge, and compliments the much "thinner" bridge pickup well. One pull-bar is located on the treble side for those inclined. Original chrome hardware, there is plenty of room for adjustment at the bridge. Fully bound, this bass cosmetically is in good shape with really only typical checking present, the pickup modification having been done very professionally. Fully hollow with laminate construction, it has an impress sound acoustically which translates well to its pickups. The 30" scale bolt on neck design allows for more flexibility in the setup - this one playing well currently with medium action. The neck is made of multi-plied wood, which is seen on many Framus instruments from this era. The neck itself has a *very* interesting profile, with no taper, and very hefty in depth measuring 1.1" throughout - which is met with a narrow a 13/32" nut width (a hair over 36mm). Small, Gibson like flat frets - it has a unique playability that would make this a great choice for a session or studio player looking for *THAT* sound - like a Violin Basses cousin. No case.
