Epiphone began amp production on a cottage industry basis in the mid 1930’s, with units designed by Nat Daniel, the founder and namesake of the legendary Danelectro company. After the war, Epiphone expanded their amp line with a series that culminated with this model, the Zephyr. The resulting amplifier was a beautifully streamlined, art deco design mirroring the classic bandstands of the Big Band era. With controls discreetly hidden in the sloping top, the blonde maple cabinet with the walnut stripes blended seamlessly into the most elegant of front lines. With all valve amplification, it produces a smooth, clear & warm tone - perfect in its time and just as pleasing today.
This Zephyr has seen some service including a recap and the addition of a 3-prong power cord. The original Rola field coil speaker was damaged and has been replaced with a modern speaker - the original is included. The amp is in good working condition, there is a slight hum present; inherent in the design. The maple veneered cabinet is in good condition, with some scratches and chips throughout - mostly on the base of the cabinet. The veneer is rippling on one side which appears to have taken on some moisture. The faceplate is in very good shape, with a small crack in one of the knobs.

Cabinet dimensions are 23″ in height by 16″ in width, with the depth tapering from 9-1/2″ at the bottom to 8″ at the top.
