With a neck featuring Whyte Laydie #2 appointments, including engraved Gryphon inlay, this example from 1908 is in excellent original condition. The spun-over rim assembly measures 10-3/4" in diameter, has a simple rolled tonering, original hardware including Cam Style No Knot, with lightly stained maple wooden parts; light tarnish present on rim exterior. The 26" scale neck is fully bound with ebony fingerboard; pearwood heel cap and peghead overlay with engraved Gryphon, and more on board incld. "Christmas tree" pearl dot position markers; some play wear on back of neck present, pitting on fretboard (likely refretted at some point w/ correct wire); a strong sounder and player with only extremely light forward relief, setup with steel strings and easily outshines any modern competitor.
