A stupendous instrument, especially for Irish playing, B&D Super Banjos are always held high in our esteem, and offer differing specifications as the Bacon and Day company continued to expand and develop their banjos in the early 1920s. This example features an 11.5" diameter rim assembly with A1 type tonering (Silver Bell w/ perforations on the inside and out), with original four string Presto tailpiece (missing down-pressure bolt/ repro hanger nuts), w/ brand and model stamps on dowel, and original neck hardware. Both the pot and 22" scale neck are of White Holly, with decorative high-relief heel carving, long backstrap, and inlaid pearlwork on the heel cap, backstrap, rosewood fretboard, especially ornate on peghead (small bit of repair on swirl beneath D); 1-3/16" wide @ nut, equipped with original friction tuners w/ large pearl buttons. Growls well, with only light relief, but with a steep neck angle (could benefit from shim or dowel stick reset); original two foot Bacon stamped bridge. Includes original hard case (interior felt worn)
