This violin is an extremely interesting instrument. It is a Guaneri copy made some time in the late 1800s. There is no label on the inside to indicate an initial maker, however there is a large label put in by Charles F. Albert, a luthier in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He re-graduated and "regulated" the violin in 1905. Albert was world famous for inventing the violin bridge and a "triple wound" G string. He died in 1908 and passed the business onto his son, Charles F. Albert JR who kept the shop running until his death in 1916.
The violin comes with the original bow which has numbers stamped near the frog, but it is hard to make out. The bow has the original hair, but still plays fantastically.
The violin itself is in very good condition. The soundpost was adjusted as well as the fiddle cut bridge. It has a very sweet, vocal tone that projects. It is set up with D'Addario Light Helicore strings.
