A fabulous player grade dreadnaught from the Japanese brand, Takamine. Dating to 1979, this well constructed instrument is essentially a budget D-28 with a full fledged pickup system built in - seen here with an additional, blendable, Dimarzio magnetic pickup. High quality solid spruce top, with rosewood & sides yield great volume and a warm tone, appropriate for flat pickers looking for something a bit unique. This used example comes to us in good shape, with easy to play low action and a straight neck. Cosmetically, this guitar is in visually great shape with minimal play wear. As mentioned, it has been modified with the top cut near the fingerboard extension to host the Dimarzio magnetic humbucker - as well as a thoughtful blend control at the upper bout. The previous owner did a nice job with the route as well as cutting custom pick guard material making this guitar really stand out. Aside from the modifications, the body is in structurally strong shape with only surface level scratches and a few nicks -namely some picking wear at the soundhole (mostly hidden by the added pickguard) and one small gouge behind the bridge that doesn't travel through the top. A great player, the neck is straight and plays with low action. It has a very well repaired past headstock break - the repair virtually invisible to the eye, the volute was carved and some of the profile sanded - now feeling like a well worn player relic. The tuners were replaced with more modern gold Gotohs with acrylic buttons. The neck is straight with a functional truss rod and yields low action that measures 5/64" in height on the sixth string at the twelfth fret and 4/64" on the first. The frets are like new, having likely been re-fretted in recent years, showing no wear. There is a small break in the binding at the first fret which was also sealed, feeling invisible to the touch. The neck has a comfortable C profile that measures .85" thick at the first position and about 1.08" at the twelfth. 1 23/32" nut width, and a 25.5" scale length. Comes with a hardshell case.
