Peter Malinoski grew up in upstate NY, relocating later on to Maryland where he would take on building some of his fine instruments. Initially inspired by Steinberger instruments, Malinoski was driven to push boundaries - infused with his thoughtful and forward thinking taste, as well as artistic impression. This example, stamped #175, is constructed out of a stained ash body, the maple/wenge neck doweled and set to the body. The body is fit with a beautiful stained piece of burled maple which houses the pickups and electronics. Two humbuckers with wenge covers match the artistic choices of the instrument - and sound excellent with a broadband frequency response that can handle detailed articulation and dense chords. Volume and Tone controls, both on push pull allow the player to coil tap (volume) and a built in piezo pickup accessible via the tone control- and coupled with a 5 way switch for series and parallel control, the options are nearly endless on this guitar. A headless design, the bridge is a top loader of sorts, with the tuning adjustment made possible at the base of the bridge. The neck has a soft V profile measuring .93" in depth at the first position with no taper. Standard 1 11/16" nut width and 25.5" scale length makes it feel quite Fender-y, something that this instrument takes some inspiration from and embellishes upon. The neck is straight, the frets are clean, and it plays easily with adjustable action that currently measures a standard 4-5/64" in height at the twelfth fret. Includes basic gig bag. Weighs 5.9 lbs
