A well regarded arch top from Ibanez's Contemporary Archtop product line, the AFC151 has found a soft spot in many enthusiast hearts as a high grade guitar without the price tag. Initial production would begin in China, like this example we have here, moving to Indonesia in 2019.
The AFC151 is a full hollow body arch top constructed out of laminate spruce and maple, seen here in a transparent red finish. Sonically, it fits into the 175 adjacent world, offering its best tones when plugged in, while retaining a nice sound acoustically. This example has been modified with a Lollar Charlie Christian pickup added in the neck position - a hole expertly added - the pickguard cut to fit the edge (a little more rough). It has a floating ebony bridge with compensated ebony saddle and a trapeze tailpiece with a wooden cover, a plastic nut, a black pickguard and Ibanez tuning machines with black buttons. Cosmetically, aside its modification, this body is in great shape with only simple surface level wear present - namely light pick scuffing above the sixth string.
The three piece neck is made with what appears to be mahogany and maple, with a nice bound ebony fingerboard. A Gibson scale 24.75" it plays familiarly, with a slim C profile neck that is quite speedy. This example plays great with a straight neck, the action low measuring 4/64" in height at the twelfth fret, the frets and fingerboard in clean condition with no true wear.
Includes original hardshell case, and original floating neck mounted pickup.
