Originally released in 1950 until the 1960's - Gibson produced the ES-140 as a smaller scale electric spanish model meant for students or players who preferred it to its bigger 175 counterpart. Measuring at 3/4 scale, it has a comfortable 12.75" lower bout, with a shorter 22.75" scale length. This is a nice playing, well preserved example that has a repaired headstock. The body is constructed out with similar laminate construction to its 175 counterpart, with a spruce top, plain maple back and typical two tone burst finish. Fully bound, this one is cosmetically and structurally in good condition with typical nicks and checking present. It retains the original stepped nickel tailpiece and two piece rosewood bridge. Original P90 is in good working order with a nice dark and punchy tone - nicely suited for jazz. Includes handmade hardshell case.
