Fender guitars are the hot rods of the guitar world - with many players souping them up to their personal liking. Many "Partscasters" feature unique combinations of necks, bodies, pickups and hardware that otherwise would not be available as a stock option.
This Strat has a Mexican made Alder SSS routed body, seen in the always cool 60's inspired three tone burst finish. The body is outfitted with a nice Callaham bridge, three ply mint green guard with parchment knobs. Maybe most unique, are the unmarked pickups - handwound by Dale Latimer. Latimer's bespoke pickups were produced without a wax potting, using nitro instead - resulting in a nice open woody tone that has a bit more depth and top end. Sonically, this is a very impressive Strat. Cosmetically it is in very good shape, with a little bit of checking present - but otherwise free of dings or nicks.
The Eric Johnson neck has become a bit of an industry standard for many people putting Partscasters together. This neck has a nice, super soft V profile, complete with the bound rosewood fingerboard and slightly flatter 12" radius. The neck plays great, showing virtually no wear in the frets or fingerboard. The neck is stamped "J Volasco" and dated Dec 8 2008. Mild finish wear present near the headstock, as well as thumb wear near the fifth fret. The action is nice and low measuring 4/64" in height at the twelfth fret - currently strung with 10's. Kluson inspired modern tuners are present with staggered height.
