This banjo is a great example of Gibson's craftsmanship, even with a basic catalog model. This banjo was made during Lloyd Loars time with Gibson. He designed the trapdoor model of banjos, which this one is a step down from. Having no resonator, it is still very projective sounding instrument, with a confident, strong tone. There is no metal tone ring, only the wooden rim which can be seen through the head. This banjo features a 17 fret scale length but has 20 frets thanks to the extended fingerboard.
The tuners and head have been replaced, but everything else is original!
