An exciting and rare bass guitar from one of Gibson's finest era. This EB-1 solid body violin bass dates to 1951, and comes to us in great playing and good cosmetic condition.
The solid mahogany body has its iconic Gibson finish with a drawn on double line faux binding. Standard checking and nicks in the finish, it is in fairly standard condition for its age, it is otherwise a great collectors piece, and certainly a great playing instrument.
It has a 1 11/16" nut width, and 30.5" scale length. The neck is nice and straight with low action that measures 6/64" in height at the twelfth fret of the 4th string, and about 4/64" in height on the first string. The tuners had been swapped, but returned back to the original banjo style (reversed gear on the 3rd & 4th strings). It has a nice Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with frets that have plenty of life to them. The nut appears original, albeit with some slight wear around the A string slot (all in good working order). Pearl dot inlays.
Original plastics, including the pickup cover, control cavity cover and pickguard - it does have a replaced output jack and jack plate. The wiring has been touched up, but it appears to have the original IRC pots.
It is missing the uncommonly used end pin, but includes the original hardshell case. Includes the original hardshell case. 8.6 lbs.
