Arvel Bird Meet and Greet

  • July 26, 2013
  • 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.

OPEN TO THE PUBLIC - FREE

To start off of the Ganondagan Native American Dance and Music Festival, award winning Native fiddle and flute player Arvel Bird will be hosting a meet-and-greet here at Bernunzio Uptown Music!!  The festival takes place July 27th and 28th, but the meet-and-greet will be here at the store on July 26th from 1:00-3:00pm.

Dubbed “Lord of the Strings” by fans and music critics worldwide, his music evokes the soul of North American history and is thoroughly entertaining, but also enlightening and humanizing.  In addition to his plethora of other recording-related awards, Arvel is a 4-time Indiana State Fiddle Champion.  He has performed in Rochester many times in the past, and it is our honor to host this meet-and-greet reception for him.  His most recent album, Titanic Centennial: Commemorative Special Edition, released in September 2011, is a fusion of traditional and contemporary Celtic music, in a tribute to the passengers, crew and musicians aboard the Titanic that fateful night in April 1912.

Arvel will bring CDs to sell and sign, talk, play some instruments, and just hang out!

Arvel will be performing on both festival days from 4-5:30 pm at the Main Performance Tent, bringing his unique brand of Celtic Fusion inspired by his Native American and Scottish roots. In addition, he'll be leading a first-ever improvisational string jam from 1:30-2:30 pm. All violinists and fiddlers and encouraged to bring their instruments and join in!
