Yamaha guitars have a great reputation amongst players and collectors as generally being very nice sounding, affordable instruments. Their Nippon Gakki factory in Japan produced thousands of high quality instruments, and is highly regarded to this day. This guitar features the slightly later Nippon Gakki label, dating to 1971. The G-85A is a nice instrument, constructed with Mahogany back and sides and a stained, solid Spruce top. Full 650mm scale, this guitar would be suitable for someone looking into getting a decent beginner level instrument. The neck, while showing very little wear, has a bit of forward relief - and these instruments are built sadly without truss rods to make that adjustment. Still, it is very playable with action that measures about 4.3mm in height at the twelfth fret. There is plenty of saddle height to make further adjustments if necessary by its next owner. Cosmetically the guitar has some superficial wear, but is surprisingly clean for a 50 year old instrument. Comes with the original chipboard case.
