English Zither banjo; these instruments were used for classical playing. They consist of a rim that is set into a resonator so that the head is flush with the top edge of the resonator. The fifth string runs through a tunnel under the fret board and tunes at the peghead. Plays moderately well in lower positions, but neck has some forward relief.
