Rarely executed longneck/five string conversion utilizing an original 11-13/16" diameter Vega Style R Whyte Laydie rim assembly and three piece longneck, probably made in the middle part of the 20th century; we reckon the banjo has spent more time as a five string than original four! The maple pot features all original nickel plated/metal parts including scalloped "Electric" tonering and bracket band but for a couple replaced hooks/nuts, and an Ome style tailpiece; some tarnish is present on metal, with finish wear/scratches on wood. The 31.5" scale neck is of flamed maple with a rosewood center piece/heel cap, thick rosewood fingerboard with 1-1/8" wide nut, with pearl fretboard markers/star on peghead overlay; equipped with Planetary style tuners, and sliding capo. There is medium forward relief on the neck, though the banjo plays well with a 1/2" bridge, with play wear on back of neck and some residue from past tuner hole fill on back of peghead, and hole from strap attachment below capo. Includes nice Lifton hard shell long neck case (in excellent shape, some exterior wear, with label lifting)
