  • Year: 1931
  • Includes Original Hard Shell Case
  • Serial #: 95116

Extremely rare & original Vega Professional five-string serial #95116 ca. 1931 purchased from the family of the original owner (a dance-band guitar/banjoist) who bought the instrument new from British Vega distributer Boosey & Hawkes; this instrument shows only very light fret wear as the former owner seemingly preferred his tenor banjos/guitars. The 10-15/16" diameter rim assembly features the perforated Tubaphone tonering and bears appropriate Vega stamps on the dowel and rim interior (dowel is stamped Tu-ba-phone No. 3); resonator is also stamped on the interior and has a two-piece sunburst, curly maple back and features a deco-inspired marquetry pattern on the reverse; equipped with original four-piece flange, Vega stamped armrest (slightly bent), and a beautiful engraved five-string Presto tailpiece. The 27" scale three-piece mahogany neck features a deeply carved heel, bound ebony fingerboard, fancy engraved pearl-work on the fretboard and peghead overlay; 1-3/16" nut width; outfitted with Grover off-set tab tuners, friction fifth; some lines of finish checking present on back of neck. Included in sale is original hard case (wrench included in pocket)
