An Uptown favorite, this is a high-grade Vega "Cylinder-Back" Style 207 mandolin with its original hardshell case. These unusual mandolin instruments were marketed as "Lute Mandolins", and feature an arched "cylinder"design on the back, which produce an astoundingly full and powerful tone. This example features flamed maple back and sides, is bound on top and back, and trimmed with marquetry; inset tortoise pickguard w/ pearl inlay, pearl rosette; equipped with original long/pointed ebony bridge, Waverly "cloud" tailpiece w/ engraved cover; excellent arch remains on top. The maple neck has a 13-3/4" scale length ebony fingerboard that features fine pearl engraving (#7 inlay replaced with un-engraved pearl); 1-1/8" nut width; engraved metal back-plate on reverse of peghead. In fine original condition, some expected play wear is present, re-glued center seam. Included in sale is original hard case
