Vega was a purveyor of American made instruments since the early 1900's. While being well known for their banjos and guitars, their Mandolin line of products was quite impressive. Having designed instruments during the aughts into the 1920's during the Mandolin Orchestra craze, Vega instruments had made their ways into the hands of virtuosi instrumentalists such as Giuseppe Pettine, Valentin Abt and George L. Lansing. This mandolin has a fine spruce top featuring an abalone rosette and pearl adorned pickguard and multi colored wooden top trim with a 21 ply rosewood back and skirt. Original tuners and bridge are present and working. This particular example plays wonderfully. Nice straight neck with low action.
Three fingerboard inlays need replacement. Can be purchased without replacement inlays for $100 discount.
