Rare example attributed to Hexum P. Kent, who was an engraver based in Providence, Rhode Island. 10" all metal rim that curves slightly at the top edge forming a tone ring. The hardware features 14 star shaped shoes. The fretted mahogany neck features a 25-7/8" scale with an extremely unusual peghead shape with marquetry ornamentation in the face and figuratively carving on the back. The most unusual feature however is the shape of the neck with has a cantilevered fingerboard starting at the 12th fret and extending to the rim. Reproduction brass tailpiece.
