A tremendous sounding guitar from the famed NYC luthier Rodrigo Shopis. Shopis guitars are often Gypsy Jazz builds, but this rare example classical is truly a well built instrument. Solid Cedar top with African Blackwood back & sides and a nice fan brace construction. Rosewood bridge & ebony fingerboard. This guitar has been well maintained and plays with ease, with action that measures 4mm in height at the twelfth fret. Likely a French polish, there is light play wear is present with some wear in the finish mostly visible on the back. There is a very slight crack that has appeared on the back near the bass side waist - which appears to not travel all the way through and was likely sealed. There is a secondary label placed below its manufacturing label, signed by Bruno Boutin - which indicates it was restored in 2004, likely having taken care of the previously mentioned crack. Its constructed with a 650mm scale length & 51.5mm nut width. Lower bout measures 370mm across, 280mm upper bout. Comes with a hardshell case.
