Peter Langdell has built some very fine instruments, having moved around the north east from the late 90's through the 2000's before moving production along to Gold Tone and closing up shop in 2006. This example dates to his days in Hyde Park Vermont, likely dating this between 1999 and 2004. Peters builds are both forward thinking and classic, with meticulous attnetion to tonal detail and thoughtful design elements. His take on the traditional A style body began with a prototype in 1990, which would become known as the A+ (which this example is a version of as well). Eventually gaining a patent on his design, Langdell successfully made a stride in the design of the almost unchanged instrument, by giving it a removable neck, and adding a radius'd fingerboard, as well as radius'd curved sides. This resulted in a very comfortable instrument to play, that if needed would be easy to service for any future owner. His expert level craftsmanship, and forward thinking design would gain him notoriety amongst collectors and players.
We are pleased to showcase this red labeled A Natural, that has been well loved by its previous owner, but well taken care of. It has a nice sweet tone, with very balanced bass and treble strings - currently setup well with flat wound strings that are nice and punchy, but could be just as well suited with round wounds. The setup is easy to play with action that measures about 4/64" in height at the twelfth fret, with room to move on the thumb screws at the bridge. Again, this model features a removable neck, which makes any future adjustments also very easy. The frets have been replaced, and show hardly any wear, albeit with some tooling marks in the fingerboard. Very nice decorated open gear tuners function just as they should and hold very well.
There are some cosmetic finish imperfections, but only very minor and all aesthetic, mainly some light surface wear on the top. A small finish chip present in the tip of the peg head.
Comes with a hardshell case.
