First produced in 1958, about 40 years earlier than this reissue example, the Rickenbacker 5002V58 is a fantastic electric mandolin featuring 8 strings! While it seems like a simple feat, many electric mandolins from the earlier era from the likes of Fender and others would simplify down to 4 strings. Constructed with a neck-thru style laminate body made of maple and walnut, and designed with a 13.85" scale length and 1.25" nut width - it is robust and feels comfortable for any acoustic mandolinist considering an electric option. Sonically, it has the chime and sonic charm of an instrument straight off a mid 60's electric folk record. It's serial number MO9821, indicate a January 1997 build. structurally and cosmetically it is great condition. A simple and typical pickguard crack is maybe the only notable cosmetic blemish on this example. It plays well with low action and a straight neck, but does have a bit of fret wear at the first position - nothing that ultimately affects this ones playability - especially through the amp. Original Ric stamped Kluson present and function just as they should. Comes with the cutest silver Rickenbacker hardshell case.
