Early, transitional banjo from Rettberg & Lange, perhaps an experiment with longer scale lengths (27-3/4" here). Thick, dark stained wooden rim with rolled tonering, 11-7/16" diameter, notched tension hoop; equipped with No Knot reproduction. The three piece mahogany neck has an ebony fingerboard with simple inlay on most of board (missing dots at 12th); thin original frets with pitting epecially in lower postions; lovely flower pot on peghead; equipped with original Champion friction tuners.
