One of the most unusual and finest sounding Gibson-made Recording King branded instruments we have seen, this is a Recording King Model 681, made in 1934; unique tone, a fantastic recording or fingerpicking guitar. The 00 sized body is fully bound, and features flamed maple back and sides w/ a solid spruce top; beautiful small burst; most interesting combination of an original trapeze tailpiece / floating ebony bridge, and a ladder braced top; it appears that an extra brace was once present under the top, that was removed; maple and spruce two-piece "bridge-plate" present; body shows signs of standard cosmetic wear, and areas of the finish were touched up; missing pickguard. The easy playing and fast bound mahogany neck has a 24-3/4" scale length with rosewood fingerboard; pearl position dots present; 1-7/8" nut width, v profile; some fall off at extension, but neck has been reset for excellent playability; tuners appear original, though holes from a past set are present.
