National Style 0

  • Very Good Condition
  • Year: 1940
  • No Case
  • Serial #: 210G

An incredible find, this is a Pre-War National Style O single cone resophonic mandolin, in great playing condition, with lovely sandblasted Hawaiian scenes on the metal body. With the demand for resophonic mandolins all but gone, National hadn't made new mandolin bodies since probably 1935, though the 3 digit serial number and G suffix places this instrument in part of National's last pre-war serial number series, and can be considered a Chicago instrument. Both the cover plate, and sandblasting are of early 1930s variaties. The metal body is in nice shape with some light scratches and cosmetic wear; some rust from past pickguard present as well as holes. Tailpiece is in nice shape as well, without common edge breaks. The mahogany neck has a 15" scale length with 1-1/4" width; beautiful ebonite and enamel peghead overlay with big enclosed gear tuners.
