Martin’s best sounding mandolin (deep rich tone), this instrument features a stunning flamed maple body, carved spruce top with oval sound hole, 2 body points, ivoroid binding top and back, ebony fingerboard and raised ebony pickguard. Outfitted with original engraved Waverly cloud tailpiece cover, engraved tuners. With less than 200 made from 1929-1939, these are fairly rare items. Binding shrinkage present at points, notable falloff at fingerboard over body (bridge has been compensated for near perfect playability), wear on back of neck, scratching/dings present. This mandolin would be suitable for a variety of styles including classical, old time or traditional Celtic.
