With a dark cedar top, players and collectors alike will appreciate this beautiful Contreras. This example dates back with a handwritten 1977 interior label, signed by the luthier. The guitar has the true Cedar sound, offering up great dynamics, with a slightly rounder attack - a nice compliment for a skilled player with a strong right hand. The unique curved fan bracing is light and resonant. The instrument has a repaired center seam crack on the top, and slight evidence of the bridge having been reglued in it's lifetime. One cleat is present internally aside the a-typical bracing, with no evidence of a crack from the top. The neck is straight with a good angle, and feels comfortable to play. The action at the 12th fret measures about 9/64", and there is plenty of saddle (measuring about 8/64"). The neck profile is a D profile, with strong shoulders - with a very subtle taper, the lower measuring about .87" at the first position with the upper registers about .91" (from front to back). A typical 52mm nut width, with a slightly longer 662mm scale length, this could be a great fit for the instrumentalist with larger hands. Significant checking in the finish present on the stunning Indian Rosewood back & sides. One crack on the waist of the guitar that does not appear to go through the side. This guitar has a nicely opened up sound, and would impress any skilled player. Comes with hardshell case. 3.95 lbs.
