Very rare offering from the Libby Brothers of Gorham, Maine, featuring their unusual all metal rim and tensioning system that was issued a patent in 1895. The rim measures 11-3/8" across and features all original hardware; grooved tension hoop; "flange" enclosed the nut ends, and dowel runs through cutouts at outer edge; slanted neck hardware. The cherry neck has a 26-1/4" scale ebony fretboard w/ pearl inlay; unusual peghead shape; friction tuners. Forward relief present on neck, but instrument plays well w/ medium action. Typical cosmetic wear present. Includes later hard case in fair condition
