A stunning and early 11 string harp guitar built by Chris J. Knutsen, a Norwegian immigrant who constructed stunning and extremely innovative harp guitars, Hawaiian guitars, Spanish guitars, and ukuleles in the early part of the 20th century. This example is clean and original with few exceptions; original paper label present; great playability and tone. The top is of wide grained yellowed spruce with marquetry binding the conventional 3-3/4" wide soundhole, small 2-1/8" soundhole, entire top, back, and sides; pearl inlay of moon with diamonds and stars present at bottom corner, corner of top, and top edge of peghead face; back and sides made of red stained mahogany w mahogany center strip. Five-piece maple neck with 19.5" scale length, diamond and star inlaid into fretboard. The bridge is a replacement; tuners and all other hardware (including frets) appear original; at some point a piece of mahogany was spliced into the treble side and several cracks have been repaired on the top and back. Included in sale is high quality custom wooden "coffin" case
