A lovely conversion from maker Kevin Enoch built in 2003 utilizing a 11-13/16" diameter Vega Style R tenor banjo rim assembly from 1922, and a SUPERB Whyte Laydie #2 neck from Enoch. The hardware on the pot is all original including scalloped electric tonering/bracket band, apart from the tailpiece, and sounds great; some tarnish and wear on metal parts. The curly maple neck is in the style of the earlier Fairbanks banjos with a delicate heel carving reminiscent of the Whyte Laydie No. 7. Beautiful engraved pearl inlay; "Gryphon" on peghead and engraved diamonds and stars in the fingerboard. Long ebony backstrap inlaid with mythical creature. The rim is a large, 11-13/16" in diameter and the neck has a 26-1/4" scale. Some small finish dings and finish flaking around heel cap present, and some light binding skrinkage present.
