An extraordinary offering from a private collection. This presentation grade banjo features a very unusual, bird’s eye maple neck with natural blonde finish, something seldom seen on instruments of the Victorian era. The banjo is in near perfect, condition with all original hardware including the carved bone tailpiece. The fingerboard and peghead are inlayed with finely engraved white mother of pearl. The bone nut is scalloped. The exterior of the 11" spun over rim is highly engraved, while the interior is covered in snake wood with marquetry and bone trim. A fine, Boston made banjo.
