Herman Hauser I Vienna Model

  • AS IS Condition
  • Year: 1922
  • Includes Original Hard Shell Case

An exquisite and important example, this is a 1922 Herman Hauser Vienna Model, built two years before the maker became acquainted with Andres Segovia, which prompted Hauser to begin building in the Spanish tradition in 1925. Truly an innovative instrument, it notably features design elements such as a bolt-on neck, thin body, and a pin bridge. This instrument is being sold AS/IS and is in need of expert restoration...it includes the original hard case. The body measures 14.5" across the lower bout, 11" upper bout, and just 3" deep; original pin bridge present with 5/6 pins; never restored or modified in any way including bracing; the back and sides are of flamed maple, with a fine European spruce top; back has separated at seam edges on side, and cosmetic dings and scratches present. The elevated bolt-on neck features an elevated fingerboard with 47mm nut width and 620mm scale; 3 piece construction with grafted peghead, and "ice cream cone" heel; original ebony nut has chipped; equipped with original Lanstorfer tuners.
