H. C. Dobson Silver Bell

  • Excellent Condition
  • Year: circa 1890s
  • No Case
  • Serial #: 6373

A good clean example of an H. C. Dobson featuring the fabled Silver Bell "doughnut" shaped Dobson patent tonering. The spun-over rim assembly has an 11" diameter and is equipped with all original hardware apart from the tailpiece hanger bolt. The mahogany neck has a 25.5" scale length, rosewood fingerboard with patent stamped metal sheath on side, peghead has a sharp break angle w/ rosewood overlay, equipped with original ivoroid friction tuners; banjo was refretted at some point, missing small chunk of rosewood fingerboard after 16th fret. Neck is straight and the banjo intonates/plays well; warm, poppy, tonality.
