First introduced in 1965, the Starfire Bass guitar "propels your group, with the tight, strong sound, that keeps the other instruments rocking right along." (Guild catalog, 1966). This double-cut dream-boat, was refinished in black from the original cherry finish indicated on the original shaped Hoboken label. The extra-thin body is fully bound with two f-holes, is equipped with original single Hagstrom pickup, single tone/volume (replaced knobs), adjustable bridge; missing finger/thumb rests, replacement heel cap. The 30.5" scale mahogany neck has an unbound dark rosewood fingerboard that was professionally refretted recently; Chesterfield peghead inlay; equipped with original geared tuners (replaced set screw on E string gear). This bass plays and intonates very well and has an excellent, punchy tone with surprising amount of fidelity via the original electronics. Normal cosmetic dings, scratches, scrapes, and lots of buckle rash on back of body. Solid repairs around 1/4" jack from past "crunch". Includes original hard case w/ "big head".
