A curious instrument in the history of modern stringed instrument builders, this is a Robert Givens made F style mandolin while he was building mandolins for the Gretsch division of the Baldwin Music Co. branded with the ODE moniker (Baldwin had acquired the ODE name some years before); these instruments were famously built in Nashville in the former Grammar Guitar Factory when it was Tut Taylor Music Inc. A powerful instrument, the bound f-style body has a Cremona sunburst on the back and sides, and is in excellent condition apart from finish checking; maple back and sides, spruce top; Givens tailpiece cover. The 14" scale mahogany neck has an extended/bound ebony fingerboard, rosewood peghead overlay w/ ODE inlaid in pearl; some dings and playing wear present. Small cleat on back visible via treble side f hole. original label present inside original hard case (model is written as A-10 mistakenly)
