Fantastic example of a handsome Gibson L-5 from the early post war period, in original sunburst finish; assertive tone, with great punch, and sweetness. The fully bound body is non-cut, with flamed maple back and sides, and a spruce top; lovely dark burst; gold-plated tailpiece present, with adjustable rosewood bridge; in great cosmetic condition, just normal finish checking, light surface scratching, and a small binding crack near pickguard screw on side. The three piece maple neck has an extended ebony fingerboard that ends at a point; large pearl block inlay; 1-11/16" nut width; ebony peghead overlay with pearl flowerpot and large slant script logo (light finish checking on overlay); original Kluson tuners with 5/6 buttons shrunken considerably (seem to be holding solidly now); a few dings present on back of neck and on top of peghead.
