From the hey-day of the mandolin orchestra, this is a Gibson K-2 mandocello dating from 1917 perfectly paired with its original green-lined hard case. This instrument was long ago refinished, exposing the straight grained spruce top, and birch back and sides. 25" scale mahogany neck with soft "V" profile, bound and extended ebony fingerboard with original frets/dot inlays, "The Gibson" slanted/script inlay present on peghead overlay; pitting present on frets though the board plays and intonates well; equipped with original geared tuners w/ Handel buttons, later Gibson tailpiece. Sinkage is present on the top, and a reproduction patent stamped adjustable bridge has been added to aid in the cello's playability.
