A rare model; 1931 Gibson GB-1 guitar banjo, all original, a blank canvas for a Pre-War five string conversion (one piece hex flange + 1/2" thick maple rim) , or play as is. The thin 11" rim assembly is in original condition including one-piece hexagonal flange (no cracks in flange, but some buckling as occured), armrest...later tailpiece; hooks/nuts original; equipped with single coordinator rod; small oval Gibson label inside; FON stamp present; unfortunately thumb screws have been replaced with Philip's variety. Mahogany resonator is in good shape though there is notable finish wear on exterior, and some binding shrinkage; FON # present in chalk and red ink inside. The maple neck is comfortable to play, is fully bound, and has a rosewood fingerboard with seemingly original frets; dot position markers; small silkscreen "The Gibson" logo on peghead; equipped with six original, and functioning, Grover Two Tab tuners! Very notable play wear present on back of neck with worn edges around peghead edge. Includes recent hard case. Same model as recorded and played by the Reverend Gary Davis.
