The "Electric Spanish" line from Gibson has become synonymous with Jazz Guitar, having been used by just about every player since their original inception in the late 1940's. "D" or dual pickup models would be prized amongst rock guitarists having versatility with their two pickups - making them some of the most famed and touted instruments of all time. This one owner Gibson ES-175D, was originally purchased at the House of Guitars in Rochester in 1981, and carefully treasured/enjoyed since new, with a modified truss rod cover, engraved "Rachel".
This ES-175D dates to 1981 and comes to us in excellent condition. A nice dark tobacco burst finish, with chrome hardware and original black plastics . Little cosmetic wear is present, with very light surface scratches present in its nitro finish, as well as some light case burn on its back. This is a well maintained guitar with easy playability and shows only light signs of play wear. Gibson ABR-1 saddle present with wood base. The saddle is a bit low, yielding really great playability.
The 3 piece neck is straight and in great shape with no wear to its profile. The headstock is stamped "Second". The neck features the thick volute, and measures a comfortable .8" thick at the first position and 1.16" at the twelfth. The action is low and comfortable measuring 5-4/64" in height at the twelfth fret. Clean frets and fingerboard, this guitar has been overall used sparingly by the original owner. It has a 1 11/16" nut width and 24.75" scale length.
Gibson Patent No pickups are present (stamped 2 737 842, with an ink stamp 5151180). A fantastic sound with their medium low output.
Comes with an aftermarket used hardshell case.
