A classic Gibson guitar if there ever was one...this is a 1957 Gibson ES-175D in its original hard shell case; later reproduction electronics; this guitar is particularly interesting as it was equipped with Epiphone tuners at the Gibson factory...1957 was the year Gibson acquired Epiphone and upon inspection it is clear that no other tuners ever resided on this guitar...in typical "anomalies being the rule" Gibson fashion the "E" was modified into a "G". The fully bound body features a single Florentine cutaway in sunburst finish; lovely "zig-zag" tailpiece, adjustable rosewood bridge; original pickguard has warped but resides in case; no cracks or repairs present, expected finish checking present, surface scratching, circular scratch on back.
The 24-3/4" scale mahogany neck is bound, has a rosewood fingerboard w/ split parallelogram pearl inlay, 1-5/8" nut width; wear on back of neck present, as well as scratches on peghead front and back.
New pickups are a matched set of Peter Florance Voodoo '59 reproductions - which sound excellent and are a suitable replacement. Includes original hardshell case.
