An early A-50 from the year the model was first introduced; this example is highly carved, has an elevated fingerboard and has great arching on the top and back; body and neck block stamped #959; the instrument underwent a professional neck reset and refret and sounds completely fantastic and probably puts your favorite "banjo-killer" to shame; a pro level mandolin in every way. The body measures about 10-1/8" across, and the binding appears original; pickguard and tailpiece are original (replaced cover)...nice reproduction ebony bridge; finish checking, deep scratching, and hairline repaired cracks around f holes; two piece maple back with spruce top. The mahogany neck has an elevated and refretted ebony fingerboard w/ 14" scale; refinish present; small 30s Gibson logo in pearl on peghead overlay.
