Gibson A-1

  • Excellent Condition
  • Year: circa 1939
  • No Case
  • Serial #: 330 2426

A rare pre-war iteration of a Gibson A-1 featuring 11-1/4" wide top and longer scale length, both brief experimental design forays from Gibson only present from '37-'41. The "squat" shaped body features typical birch construction (very flamey back), and is fully bound, with a sunburst spruce top; binding shrunk from sides and was reglued in several areas (some gap edge present); repaired top cracks and lots of checking/cosmetic wear. The mahogany neck has a 14" scale and joins the body at the 13th fret (a novel idea at the time); rosewood fingerboard with binding and dot inlay; fresh neck set and refret; silk screen logo; later tuners.
